Based on feedback gathered through user testing, we made the following changes to the design:

  • Major changes to structure and purpose
After realizing that the app needed to give people specific topics to post stories about, we made the relevant iterations.
  • Reduced features
Using the MoSCoW method of feature prioritization, we removed all elements unnecessary for our first draft; which was meant to be a basic MVP. This enabled us to do a more thorough job of testing and refining the features we did put in the app.
  • Resolved Heuristic problems
We discovered and resolved issues regarding “clickability”, “visibility” and functionality of design elements.
  • Changes in Functionality
We made changes to functionality being offered to users: for instance, we had originally excluded a comments section in order to avoid cyber bullying. However it became clear that the users wanted this function to connect and communicate with one another.
  • The name of the App
Since our research showed that “League of Women Voters” was misleading, we chose to advise the client to call the app by the League’s slogan: “Making Democracy Work”. This is in line with the League’s agenda and is a very powerful phrase that makes a big impression.
